Stretch your writing and yoga muscles this spring with a nourishing day of writing and movement practice in the magical surroundings of Ashley Court, a Regency manor house in Tiverton, Devon. Come with a piece of writing or an idea that needs honing or refining with some new ideas or good advice from Lucy, with an optional early morning yoga session with Tara to kick start your day and activate your brain cells.  Feed your mind and body, and also your stomachs, with a delicious home made lunch.

Join writer Lucy Greeves and yoga teacher and Rolfer Tara Fraser for this unique day retreat.  Immerse yourself in a deeply grounding ,morning movement practice (accessible to all bodies), combined with a writing workshop with Lucy, with a delicious vegetarian breakfast and lunch thrown in. In between sessions you can explore the wonderfully atmospheric house and gardens, chill out with the resident cats, and walk in the lush woodlands as spring makes its presence felt.

All levels of experience and ability  are welcome, as long as you have a piece of writing that you can bring along. Surrounded by early daffodils, snowdrops, and the emergence of the wild garlic mountains, you can nourish mind, body and soul.

TUTORS

Lucy Greeves is a writer and erstwhile yoga teacher with a particular interest in helping writers to balance the physical, intellectual and spiritual demands of their craft. Between 2012 and 2018, she devised and led the popular ‘Writing with Yoga’ retreat for the Arvon Foundation. Her books include Curious Poses: 30 Yoga Postures and the Stories They Tell (Bloomsbury/Green Tree), The Naked Jape: Uncovering the Hidden World of Jokes (Penguin/Michael Joseph), and Turned Red Earth, an art book exploring the legacy of WW1 through found nature writing, poetry and photographs. http://www.lucygreeves.com

Tara Fraser is a BWY qualified teacher and Diploma Course tutor with over 25 years of teaching experience. Her classes are gentle and immersive, influenced by her work as a Rolfer and the teaching of TKV Desikachar and Vanda Scaravelli.
She enjoys a kind of low-key, down-home yoga that is not to do with Instagram followers or lycra outfits. What it feels like is a lot more important than what it looks like and she enjoys passing on that kind of everyday, user-friendly approach to her students.

Breakfast and lunch are included, with a sit-down dinner available for an additional £25, as well as tea, coffee and sweet treats. A good amount of the produce we use comes from Ashley Court’s own extensive kitchen garden, augmented with other locally sourced foods wherever possible. Our kitchen is vegetarian, and vegan options are always available.
