We are delighted to welcome Devon-based historical fiction author Kate Lord-Brown to Ashley Court for this spring retreat for writers. Her capacity to condense decades of her own writing experience into a methodical and practical guide for use in any genre of writing is second to none! You will be in capable and encouraging hands for this weekend whether you are writing poetry or prose, fiction, memoire or biography or something else.
Kate’s writing workshops are interspersed with opportunities to walk, wander in the gardens, take part in a yoga session, doodle over your tea or coffee and enjoy the Devon countryside bursting into spring.
We host a number of residential and day retreats for writers throughout the year as well as many author talks and book launches. Retreats offer the opportunity to take some dedicated time out to develop your writing in a countryside setting with the expert guidance from a tutor.

For this weekend retreat Kate will offer three interlinked workshops looking at past, present, future. three two-hour sessions, encouraging participants to find their ‘hearts and bones’ – their own unique history and inspiration from their past; use the experience of being at Ashley Court now to inspire their creativity; think about where they want to take their work in the future.
